Yvonne’s Story

#HeIsMyCrutch He Is My Crutch BlogMy name is Yvonne Milton, I’m 31 years old from Jacksonville, Florida and I am living and thriving with Spina Bifida. Being Differently Abled has helped shape my perspective of life and given me purpose and in my opinion, it is what makes me more determined to succeed in this complicated life that I have been trusted with. God has allowed me to overcome every obstacle that I have ever faced in my life, and that is why I will forever serve Him with my life and the way that I live it. Living with a disability definitely has its challenges, but, in all honesty, I don’t think I would change it for the world. I believe that there is a very powerful reason as to why I was born Spina Bifida.(John 11:4) I have never allowed my physical disability to dictate or define who I am. Despite all odds, I have managed to live my life as normal as possible. I’ve graduated high school, currently in college, worked full time jobs and live on my own. I could never do any of those things if it wasn’t for God ordering my steps. I enjoy educating people on life with a disability, motivating those with a disability and showing the world that it is possible to live beyond your physical limitations and be who you were created and called to be. That is one reason why I have started my very own T-shirt line “Disabled But Still Determined”. Being a Jacksonville native, In my opinion I feel as if Spina Bifida and disabilities period are often overlooked. There aren’t many opportunities for people with disabilities here in the city and I am determined to help change that and bring more awareness not just to Spina Bifida, but to all disabilities and the people that have them. Florida, as a whole has helped people like myself do so many things and helps bring awareness and support in most situations. It is my mission to help spread awareness. He Is My Crutch ™ ” is a phenomenal organization and is self-explanatory and I love its mission and what it stands for. I am so honored to be able to contribute my story to it. I’m so excited about what’s to come in the future!
