On Friday June 2nd I had the opportunity to serve yet again the community of Mason Court. This time at the Oscar Mason Library Summer reading kick off put together by the wonderful Ms. Yuki Lewis who is a librarian at the Huntsville Public Library. She left a lovely impression with her passion and care for each child and the success of the event and her prayer just before all of us volunteers went to our stations. Not too mention her beautiful hair. 😆🙌
The kick off was a great clean way for children’s as well as adults to start the summer right while encouraging us to continue reading even though school is out and we had a ball and a half 💃🙌📚 there was games,
prizes, face painting. The whole shabang!!!! The others volunteers and I worked hard from 1:00 – 3:00pm to ensure that the children (and adults) who attended had a great time. As well as Oscar Mason’s own librarian Ms. Shaquila Willie whom I first contacted concerning the event and she graciously welcomed my inquiry.
My station was registration where myself and another volunteer greeted those who came out and asked them to sign in as well as handed out info about the summer reading program for adults as well as children. They were all so cute and so excited about their day!! The people of Mason Court are great people who do know how to have good clean fun!!! It was a pleasure to serve there and I cannot wait to come back and read to children on the fifteenth.
WEUP came out to keep the party going! I heard an announcement while there about the Purity Camp Ms. Dominique Dillard is putting on this summer. Myself and Ms. Black Alabama Teen 2017-2018 will be speakers at the banquet after the young ladies take their purity vows. I met with her Thursday at the Harris Home For Children to discuss. For more info check out the website here.
I am so excited about all that God is allowing me to do in the community and my new book “Sister, How Are You?” as Ms. Wheelchair Alabama-America 2017. You can donate toward my competing for the national title here.
