He Is Your Crutch Too

The #HeIsMyCrutch movement is my way of coping with the Wiles and trenches that is my life. It’s the discovery of me by me or at least that’s what it started out as . Growing up with Spina Bifida and trying to figure out what is wrong with me physically quickly turned and grew into emotional and mental issues. I was the only of 3 girls to be born with it. Noone in my family history had it. So needless to say my life gets lonely. I deal with depression for more reasons than that. Throughout life while dealing with that I would always here how much of an inspiration I am/was. Thats super cool right? It always bothered me that I was compelled to inspire while dying inside.

People would unknowingly made me feel pressure to put on a strong face and not show just how much I was hurting. These are things I have to conquer on a daily basis. He is my crutch ™ started as me learning to love me (Still learning) and an @ name change via twitter but I learned something people do need inspiration and so do I. We Thrive off of one another. We still are not Without Limits. So we interdependents corporately need the Father. He is our protection, keeper, resting place and so much more.

A crutch is assistance to one whom would otherwise find further difficulty or not be able to walk at all. Without my physical crutches I can hardly keep balance. Without them im kind of like a toddler with that awkward run at all times because they’re still getting the hang of the whole “walking” thing. In this spiritual walk He is that much of a need. These ten reasons why He is your crutch too are in no particular order. There is a large amount of other things I could list but i’ve narrowed it to ten reasons.

1. He Keeps us from stumbling (Psalm 73)

I wont limit the said “stumble” to any one category however I will make mention that the writet of the 73rd Psalm stumbled at the prosperity of the wicked. He couldn’t understand why they were not “reaping what they were sowing” yet He and the people of God were suffering. Maybe that is not where you have or do stumble but wherever yours is He is willing to hold your right hand through it.

2.He Guides us with His Counsel (Psalm73:24)

Even in our moments where we do not understand His will or why this and that we can lean and depend on His counsel to teach and lead us along our tedious journey. He can nurse us toward a stronger walk and once He does He will ” recieve us with Honor. ”

3.He Is our primary source toward a healthy walk.(verse 25-26)
The writer after reaching understanding asks the question “Who Have I in heaven but you?” He realized the vanity in His faulty way of seeing things before and now says ” I desire nothing on earth but you.”

4. He Is Your Portion
There wlll be points in our walk where we will feel we cannot take another flipping second of life or the walk and nearly faint as a result but though are flesh and our heart may fail He Is our strength and our portion forever. Enough to raise us up again.

5. He Is Our ReRefuge

Refuge can be defined as a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger or trouble. He is our literal defense against all that troubles us. (Psalm 94:22) It is good for us to be near Him.

6. Our Help Comes From Him (Psalm 121)

We are not alone. We have help in the Lord who created the Heavens and the earth. We have the creator to coach and help us through life. Let that sink in.

7. He is our keeper

When our friends , family, even our own hearts leave us He wont flake on us. When the grounds get shaky He wont let our feet be moved. He who keeps us does not slumber. It may get a little hot but He is the shade at our right hands.

8.He’s never leaving

The Lord will keep your coming and your going out from this time and forever more. We may have short comings and pit falls and even collect bruises of all sorts , I can pretty much guarantee it but we won’t lose heart. ( 2corinthians 4:16-17) there is a weight of glory being chiseled inside of us all. Our bruises are not without cause , they aren’t pointless falls. (Proverbs 24:16) (James 2:14)

9. We wont stumble Forever

There is a physical body and a spiritual body. (2 corinthians 15) All of our bleeps and blunders , falling and growing pains serve purpose. They may not have the same storyline but they all serve purpose.

10. Rest is Available

There is still a rest waiting on the people of God. He is willing to sympathize with our weakness and to be our crutch. We wont be limping forever. He will nurse us to complete and perfect health through all of our trial and error.

As I minister to you
I minister to myself

God is a very good support. It’s awesome that you’ve listed all of these reasons and I couldn’t agree more with you! It’s always easier to face life knowing that he’s there to support us all the way.

Thank you for sharing. Indeed the Lord Jesus is our strength and there for us at our point of need. I love this post because its encouraged me in a lot of ways. I was just thinking how ‘physically weak’ you may feel, and yet you through that you have found spiritual strength and recognition of how important it is to rely on God and not our own understanding. I was expecting this post to be all about ‘blaming God, self pity. no one loves me’ kind of post. And yet, its full of hope and strength. You’re a blessing to others. xx
