Freeman’s Story

Throughout my life, I have had to overcome numerous obstacles and trials. Born with Spina Bifida, I have had to face countless surgeries and therapy. From learning to walk by using a walker to being able to walk with forearm crutches. Many things in life that people take for granted are not always accessible for me. I have always remained encouraged to never give up. I have always had a positive attitude about life and believe in putting forth an effort with my abilities. I gave my life to Christ in 1997 at age 11. I haven’t always taken Christianity serious. However, towards the end of 2012, I started to let some meaningless things go and let God work through me. I can truly say there’s been a change in me.How has God been my crutch?
He’s been with me even before I came into this world. I mentioned that I’ve gone through countless surgeries over the course of my life. The last one I had was in September of 2007 when I became very ill. A week before going to the hospital I started feeling bad. I became unusually hot and almost passed out at choir rehearsal one night. Fast forward to the next week, one night I noticed that my right leg was swollen. I thought maybe it was because I had been wearing my braces. Anyway, I went to sleep that night and woke up sweating real bad. My parents and I decided to wait to see if I needed to see a doctor because I was unaware of what was going on. On Thursday September 6, I had attended a funeral of a relative.I was still feeling bad and the hot weather wasn’t making it any better. I came and laid down. After going off to sleep, my mom suggested I go to the emergency room. I was diagnosed with an abscess in my leg, along with other health issues. I had surgery two days later and I remained in the hospital until the following Thursday. To make a long story short, the healing process was a long one. It took about 3 months total. Even though I had to endure a lot of pain and agony, I can say that this illness taught me a lot about health. I have God to thank for seeing me through it all. I’m a living testimony to the fact that God is the Ultimate Healer. When I thought my life was about to end God showed up and showed out! I can’t thank Him enough for it.Facebook: Freeman J. Knox
